The ZGMF-X101S ZAKU Splendor is a prototype multi-mode mobile suit, it is featured in the original design series SEED DESTINY-MSV.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The armament of the ZAKU Splendor consists of four hip-mounted grenades similar to the ones used on the standard ZAKU units as well as two shoulder shields, like the ones used on the ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom. Besides these fixed armaments, the ZAKU Splendor can also use two beam rifles and a sword for close combat.

Special Equipment & Features

Since the ZAKU Splendor serves as a testbed for the modular system used in the later ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam, the suit, like the Impulse, is capable of splitting up into three modules, among them a Core Splendor. Since the Core Splendor isn't as aerodynamic as the one used on the Impulse it is questionable how agile the Splendor is.

The ZAKU Splendor is based upon a ZAKU Phantom and one of several ZAKU variants which serve as a testbed for experimental weaponry and design features used in later Gundam-type mobile suits. In the ZAKU Splendor's case, the suit is used for the three-module combining system later utilized on the Impulse.

Besides these facts it is unknown how many units of this model were created, who the test pilot was and whether these models were used in any combat situations.
