ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper Original Spec Type is the predecessor of the ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper introduced in the original design series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny MSV.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper Original Spec Type was a design submitted for ZAFT's new generation mainstay mobile suit competition. Like its competitor, the ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity series, it adopted the Wizard System. Its standard Wizard System was the EX-G1 Knight Wizard, which was specialized for close-combat against mobile suits.[1] "DOM" stood for "Dauntless Obliterator Magnificent".[2]

Its weapons consisted of the JP536X Giga-Launcher DR1 Multiplex, a belt-fed bazooka that was also equipped with a beam cannon; and the MA-SX628 "Fodio" Drill Lance, a close combat weapon equipped with an explosive drill warhead which penetrated enemy armor before detaching and detonating. Its abdomen was equipped with the "Screaming Nimbus", a system that created a Mirage Colloid field with both offensive and defensive properties. Finally, it was equipped with a large physical shield that could be used in conjunction with the "Fodio" Drill Lance.[1][2]

Since the Junius Treaty banned the use of the offensive Mirage Colloid field, the ZGMF-XX009T's value decreased, and it was defeated in the design competition. It was said that the "T" at the end of its model number represented the developer's wish that it could be revived as part of the Third Stage Series.[1][2]

Armaments[]

  • JP536X Giga-Launcher DR1 Multiplex
The primary ranged weapon for the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type, it was a large bazooka with a double barrel structure. The top barrel fired physical projectiles, while the bottom barrel fired beams. Unlike the model later used by the DOM Trooper, the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type's Giga-Launcher DR1 Multiplex was belt-fed and could fire 100 rounds per minute. The ammunition belt was stored in the EX-G1 Knight Wizard and the suit could wield up to two such bazookas.[1]
  • MA-SX628 "Fodio" Drill Lance
A close-combat weapon specifically designed for the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type, it consisted of a detachable drill bit attached to a long handle. The drill bit was designed to drill into the target upon contact, before separating from the handle and detonating inside the target. Up to eight additional drill bits could be stored in the EX-G1 Knight Wizard in place of bazooka ammunition.[1]
  • MMI-GAU25A 20mm CIWS
Mounted in the shoulders, they were the same model of CIWS as the ones used by the ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam and the ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam, and were effective at close range.[2]
  • G14X31Z "Screaming Nimbus"
Located on the lower left chest, the "Screaming Nimbus" was an aggressive defense system which released high energy Mirage Colloid particles with the same property as beams, creating a defensive field that destroyed any matter that came into contact with it.[2]
  • Shield
A large, handheld physical shield that had undergone anti-beam micro-tread treatment. The Drill Lance could fit through the hole in the middle, allowing the shield to protect the DOM Trooper even when attacking.[1]

Special Equipment & Features[]

Like the ZAKU Series, the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type had the ability to mount interchangeable armament packs on its back. Its standard Wizard System was the EX-G1 Knight Wizard.

History[]

The DOM Trooper Original Spec Type was defeated by the ZAKU series in the design competition, with the greatest reason said to be the Junius Treaty's ban on the use of its offensive Mirage Colloid field. Later, the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type's technical data was stolen by Terminal, who then completely erased the data from ZAFT's database, and redesigned the mobile suit for their own use. This led to the persistent conspiracy theory that the DOM Trooper Original Spec Type's loss in the design competition was orchestrated by Terminal operatives who had infiltrated ZAFT's highest levels. Two prototype units were known to have been produced before the loss of data. There was a proposal to reverse-engineer these two units and reconstruct the data, but this never came to pass.[1]
